Rain, Good People, and a Record: Wine, Beer & Bourbon 2026

Last Thursday brought a cool, rainy evening to Cary. It also brought a packed house at the Matthew House, and the energy inside had nothing to do with the weather.

As it turned out, the rain was actually our friend. It pulled everyone into the raffle and auction room, made the space feel more intimate, and set up what became our biggest fundraiser in club history. We raised over $35,000 – a 31% increase over last year, and the most raised in the event’s history.

Rotarians, local business owners, and community supporters filled the space, sharing food from Southern Harvest Catering, drinks from Hearsay, and a raffle that handed out more than a few vacation stays. The room stayed packed and loud all night, and a lot of people went home winners.

Every dollar raised goes directly toward local charities and nonprofits serving the Morrisville and Cary community. This is what the Rotary Club of Morrisville is here to do, and nights like this are how it gets done.

Events like this don’t organize themselves. Kathy Chorba led this effort in her final year running the event, and she closed it out in style. Wendy Sharpe and Kari Sullivan stepped up to make it all come together. President Andrew Huyck and the whole club made sure the evening felt like it should. We’re grateful to all of them.

And to everyone who came out: this club runs on people who show up. You showed up, and it showed.
